Dee Simultaneously a Pakenham Winner and Loser
Melbourne hoop Michael Dee managed to be a both a winner and loser of a race at Pakenham on Sunday. Immediately after riding Heroic Fighter to victory in the fifth event on the card, the winner collided with a riderless horse before falling, in the process spearing Dee into the ground where he broke his collarbone. According to RSN927, with the break confirmed by Dandenong Hospital to which he was taken following the fall, Dee has advised he’ll undergo surgery on Tuesday. Putting on a stoic stiff upper-lip, Dee is hoping that he will only be out of action for 6 weeks. Meanwhile, racenet.com.au reports that Stewards have opened an inquiry into the incident which left Dee’s mount Heroic Fighter lame in a hind leg.
