Zarkava Maintains Perfect Progeny Record

Friday, 3rd July 2020

The Aga Khan's champion racemare Zarkava (see below with her atest Frankel foal) has maintained a perfect progeny record after her fourth foal to race became her fourth winner, in France. Named Zaykava, the blue-blooded 3YO filly is by high class French stallion Siyouni, and scored on debut at Compiegne over 2000m – a first starter distance that boggles the mind for Australian racing fans. Zaykava's celebrated dam Zarkava was named European Horse of the Year during a glittering race career that saw the daughter of Gone West sire-son Zamindar claim the Gr1 Prix Marcel Boussac at two, and then return as a 3YO to also triumph in the Gr1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, Gr1 Prix Vermeille, Gr1 Poule D'Essai Des Pouliches (French 1,000 Guineas) and Gr1 Prix de Diane (French Oaks). Among Zarkava's other three foals to race are multiple Gr1-performed Gr1 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud winner Zarak (Dubawi) and stakes-winning Frankel filly Zarkamiya, placed in the Gr1 Prix Vermeille won by her famous dam.
