COVID-19 Test Negative After Jockey Scare
Nine jockeys who rode at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday and who had engagements to ride at Gosford’s Tuesday meeting were stood down. The precautionary move implemented by Racing NSW Stewards, which forced trainers to scramble in a bid to find replacement riders, was brought about due to another jockey who rode at Rosehill displaying flu-like symptoms on Tuesday morning. According to punters.com, the nine riders comprised Andrew Adkins, Brenton Avdulla, Tim Clark, Sam Clipperton, Jason Collett, Robbie Dolan, Adam Hyeronimus, James Innes Jnr and Rachel King. The nine jockeys stood down were also tested, with Chief Steward Marc Van Gestel advising, "The additional tests of the other nine riders have been performed on the basis that if the testing of the unnamed jockey comes back positive we will know where we stand.” Allowing Racing NSW, and the industry at large, to breathe a huge sigh of relief, the test results were reported to be negative.
