Golden Slipper Winner Danzero Passes Away
Danzero (Danehill-Confidentially, by Kaoru Star) has died peacefully aged 28 at Victoria’s Rosemont Stud, reports racenet.com.au. The Gr1 Golden Slipper winner initially stood at Arrowfield Stud until relocating to Rosemont in 2011 where he served three seasons before being pensioned at the farm. A champion first season stallion who sired Golden Slipper winner Dance Hero (see below), Danzero was the first Group 1 winner for his sire Danehill whose sire-sons and their sons, in turn, have continued his dynasty. Rosemont principal Anthony Mitten noted, "He was the first stallion to stand at Rosemont and was in fact the only stallion to stand at our original farm at Ceres. He helped set in motion the stallion business for us and ultimately the purchase of Rosemont Gnarwarre from Tony Santic which is now home to our five-strong stallion roster." Foot-note: among Danzero’s forty stakes horses and six individual Gr1 winners was Flight Stakes winner and Thousand Guineas runner-up Danglissa. Injured in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic at just his third and final start when heavily backed, her untapped dual stakes-winning grandson Unite and Conquer (Hinchinbrook) makes his stud debut at Kingstar Farm in 2020.
