Brandenburg Connections Turn Away Offers
The connections of high class Sydney 3YO Brandeburg (Burgundy-Wansesingyee, by Galileo) are the latest to walk away from a lucrative international offer, reports AAP. The New Zealand-bred son of ill-fated stallion Burgundy is one of three leading sophomores – soon to be 4YOs – that would fit into Hong Kong’s premium age group perfectly, but which will now remain in training in Australia. The other two, after Shadow Hero was purchased to join David Hayes in Hong Kong, are Front Page and Kinane. Placed in this year's Gr1 Doncaster Mile (see below), the Gr2 winner is back in training with John Sergeant and is being aimed, first-up, at August’s Gr1 Winx Stakes (1400m). Sergeant has little dount the gelding is in for a big spring, enthusing, "He's matured now. He was always a weak 3YO, now he's got a neck and a behind and he's strong. He should measure up with the big boys…”
