Rubick Could Equal Snitzel's Everest Mark
Following the amazing feat of Redzel (Snitzel) winning the first two runnings of the multi-million dollar The Everest, last year's lucrative Sydney sprint fell to Rubick's star 3YO son Yes Yes Yes. Now, as we approach the 2020 renewal, which boasts even more prizemoney, Coolmore Stud's Rubick has another potential 3YO winner, albeit a filly not a colt. Although Rubisaki's name had been mentioned in despatches, it's only recently that connections of the untapped rising sprint-star are beginning to make their case to slot holders. According to racing.com, Joe O'Neill, head of syndicator Prime Thoroughbreds, has always been leaning towards the Golden Eagle (1500m) with Rubisaki but concedes that he has been approached by several interested parties. O'Neill revealed, "There has been some discussion regarding The Everest… the Golden Eagle is still on her list, but we will just play it by ear. It's pretty exciting. Irrespective of what happens, she has got a very exciting program ahead of her." D-Day for the Patrick Payne-trained Rubisaki is likely to come in August's Cockram Stakes which will determine which of the two races Rubick's daughter heads towards.
