FBI Continues Expansion in Australia
In the days when Lee Freedman was champion trainer of three-time Melbourne Cup winner Makybe Diva, he and his brothers were nicknamed the FBI – Freedman Brothers Incorporated. Fast forward to 2020, and the Freedman family's training involvement in Australia continues to expand. Although Lee is firmly ensconsed a leading trainer in Singapore, brother Anthony, assisted by son Sam, are a very successful outfit in Victoria, and younger brothers Richard and Michael have a growing stable in Sydney. Now, it's the turn of Richards's son Will to make a go of things in his own right. According to AAP, the cousin of Sam is setting up shop in Scone, thoroughbred breeding capital of Australia, where he will have 20 boxes to start off with. Freedman Jnr made the announcement via social media, saying, "I will be embarking on my own training career from Scone next month. It's a big step, but one I'm going to enjoy." If he's a chip off the old block, Will's likely to make his new venture a success, particularly as he has a veritable First XI to call on for advice if required.
