Tiz The Law Rules in Gr1 Belmont Stakes
Being run in a juggled order in 2020 due to COVID-19 and its impact on the US feature racing schedule, this year’s Gr1 Belmont Stakes (a shortened 9 furlongs), traditionally the final leg of the 3YO Triple Crown, has been by won by odds-on favourite Tiz The Law. Like his sire Constitution (Tapit), also a winner of the Gr1 Florida Derby, New York-bred Tiz The Law was well positioned throughout the run to turn the screws on his opposition. Sitting third and staying away from the rail, the favourite ambled up to the leaders approaching the turn where, although wanting to hang a little, careered away to an ultra impressive victory. Trained by 82-year-old Barclay Tagg, Tiz The Law has plenty of time to prepare for the remaining legs of the rescheduled Tripe Crown; the Kentucky Derby is scheduled for 5 September followed by the Preakness Stakes on 3 October.
