Key 2020 Sire Acquisitions for Riverdene Stud
Popular Wagga Wagga stud farm Riverdene has dramatically boosted its stallion stocks for 2020 via the acquisition of two extremely well-credentialled stallions. Riverdene already stands proven stakes-producing Danehill sire-son Strada, sire of more than 160 individual winners, and exciting prospect Val Pensiero, whose Gr3 San Domenico-Gr2 Run To The Rose double included the scalps of Gr1 stars Zoustar, Dissident and Criterion. New recruits Sizzling and McLaren offer a mix of proven and potential-laden. With his eldest only 4YOs, and boasting almost $7 million in progeny earnings from his 80 winners that include seven individual stakes-performers, Gr1-winning 2YO Sizzling (Snitzel) offers incredible value. By gun sire Exceed and Excel whose stocks have never been higher, McLaren – on debut at $1.55 – won the Gr3 Canonbury Stakes at Rosehill, a race also won by Golden Slipper winners Sebring and Vancouver. Subsequently placed in the Gr3 Black Opal Stakes, he pulled up with an issue that prevented him from his own shot at Golden Sipper history. From the immediate family of Gr1 Oakleigh Plate heroine River Dove, McLaren was a genuinely precocious speed machine. Click below for an in-depth preview of Riverdene Stud's 2020 offering.
