Front Page No Country Bumpkin

Monday, 22nd June 2020

At Flemington on Saturday, quality country sprinter Front Page did his moniker proud by putting himself front and centre with racing media. Despite smashing his rivals in Albury and Wangaratta, the 3YO gelding trained by Geoff Duryea on the NSW-Victorian border in Corowa was a little disrespected by the market as he attempted to make the difficult transition from country galloper to stakes-winner at his first attempt. Starting at $11.00, the son of Sun Stud stallion Magnus raised plenty of eyebrows, and his respect level, when toying with quality rivals over the concluding stages of the day’s feature event, the Listed A.R. Creswick Stakes (1200m). Eased down to win by almost 3-lengths, Front Page is reportedly heading to the paddock ahead of spring assignments where, if he repeats Saturday’s effort, he could prove one of the Melbourne Carnival’s feel-good stories.
