Team Anderton Looks To New Season
New Zealand trainers Brian and Shane Anderton want to put this season behind them as they compile a nice team for the future, reported racingnews.co.nz. In 2019/20, the father/son training team have won 12 races, below their typical 30-ish. Brian Anderton said, "We had a shocking season. But like the old saying, 'you can't pull your socks up if you have got none on.' We just didn't have the horses. We went through a lot of horses that didn't make the grade. We have got a nice team building up around us now. We have got quite a few unraced horses there, so I am looking forward to them stepping out." Leading the charge is rising 9YO and 2018 Gr1 ATC Metropolitan Handicap winner Patrick Erin (Gallant Guru-Mega Babe, by Personal Escort) who was trained for a while in Australia by Chris Waller, but has returned to the Andertons who had him for his first 21 starts and ten wins. He has now had 41 starts for 11 wins and will be aimed at the Gr3 New Zealand Cup in November. "Patrick Erin has just come back in," Anderton said. "He has been in for about a week. He looks well. He did have some feet problems, but they seem to be okay now. It's nice to get up and see him in the morning, not that I am out there much now. Shane is the man that does all the work." Among the others that excite Anderton are Listed winner Raise You Ten (Raise the Flag-Molly Malone, by Towkay) and Slammer (Raise the Flag-Miss Agavero, by With Class).
