Trainer Chillemi Aims for Third Northern Classic

Thursday, 18th June 2020

Tolga-based trainer Roy Chillemi has two good chances to give him a third Northern Classic QTIS 2YO Plate at Townsville on Thursday, reports racingqueensland.com.au. Chillemi selected both 2YOs at last year's Magic Millions sales, paying $82,500 for Higher Realm (Wandjina-Upper Notch, by High Yield) while Tennessee Boy (Spill the Beans-Tennessee Red, by Red Ransom) was a bargain buy at $12,500. "Both are good horses in their own right but I think Higher Realm will go on to be the better horse later on," Chillemi said. "I've won this race twice with Tyzone and Hotelier and hopefully we can win it for a third time." Tyzone (Written Tycoon-Rezonet, by Hussonet) won ten races for Chillemi before being transferred to the Edmonds team, where he won the Gr1 Stradbroke Handicap recently. "Most of Tyzone's owners are in the ownership of both High Realm and Tennessee Boy," Chillemi said. "Higher Realm has the edge on Tennessee Boy at this stage and I probably just favour him. But Tennessee Boy is going well and I won't be surprised to see him win." Tennessee Red has had seven starts for three wins and four placings, and netted his owners $81,800, a decent return on his purchase price. Higher Realm has won two of his four starts to date, and placed second in the other two.
