Three to Watch at Royal Ascot

Wednesday, 17th June 2020

Australian-bred broodmares Mahbooba (Galileo-Sogha, by Red Ransom), Reem (Galileo-Al Afreet, by Danehill) and Entertains (Street Cry-Serenade Rose, by Stravinsky) all have runners at Royal Ascot tonight. Dubai Warrior (Dansili-Mahbooba, by Galileo) lines up in the Listed Wolferton Stakes over 2004m, and the 4YO is already a Gr3 winner with an impressive record, having won five of his seven starts to date. He is a full brother to Gr3 winner Moota Sadir (Dansili). Their dam, Mahbooba, was exported to South Africa as a yearling and became the Champion 2YO Filly in South Africa in 2009/10 where she won the Gr1 Clairwood Golden Slipper. 3YO colt King Leonidas (Kingman-Reem, by Galileo) lines up in the Gr3 Jersey Stakes over 1408m, and he goes into the race unbeaten from two starts. His dam Reem had five starts in Australia for trainer David Payne before she was sent to Meydan where she won the Listed Al Bastakiya Stakes. She also raced in England before she retired to stud there. Group-placed winner Entertains is the dam of 3YO gelding Laser Show (New Approach) who will line up in race one tomorrow, the Golden Gates Handicap over 2004m. Entertains is out of triple Gr1 winner Serenade Rose (Stravinsky-Rose of Tralee, by Sadler's Wells) who won the VRC Oaks, Australian Oaks, and Arrowfield Stakes as a 3YO.
