Gradual Patron Return to SA Tracks

Wednesday, 17th June 2020

South Australia’s racing patrons will soon be welcomed back to thoroughbred racetracks across the state in a staged approach. Thoroughbred Racing South Australia (TRSA) announced on Wednesday it would adopt a measured approach to re-admitting on-course patrons, with limits varying for each club given their specific room sizes, taking into account the distancing directions put in place by State Coordinator Commissioner Grant Stevens that deal with the COVID-19 pandemic. To keep racegoers, industry figures and the wider community informed, TRSA will provide weekly updates detailing the conditions, including capacities for each respective meeting programmed in the seven days ahead. “We thought that would be the most sensible and responsible plan, given the regularly changing environment with regards to the directions in this space,” said TRSA Chief Executive Officer, Nick Redin. “This gradual approach will strike a balance between getting more people ‘back to the track’ and ensuring the safety of industry participants and spectators remains the number one priority.”
