Double Blow for Team Edmonds

Wednesday, 17th June 2020

Trainer Tony Edmonds and his son Trent were on cloud nine less than two weeks ago when Tyzone won the Gr1 Stradbroke Handicap – their first elite result as partners – and again last weekend when potential Cox Plate candidate Vanna Girl crushed her rivals in the Gr2 Roses at Eagle Farm. Displaying the ephemeral nature of the training caper, the duo has been brought back to earth with a thud, losing two serious juveniles. According to punters.com, The Drinks Cart, a slashing third in the Gr1 JJ Atkins, has been sold to do his future racing in Hong Kong, while freshman Headwater's boom son Wisdom of Water is being sent to do his future racing in Victoria with trainer Mick Price. Talking about the sensational Gr3 Ken Russell Memorial winner, Edmonds senior revealed, "Wisdom of Water will head south. He is now part-owned by Aquis who are looking at him as a sire later in his career."
