Teetan Can't Shake that Winning Feeling
In tandem with the titanic battle between arch-rivals Zac Purton and Joao Moreira for Hong Kong’s jockey premiership which continues in earnest, there is a side-show developing that hints fellow jockey Karis Teetan is going to be a force to be reckoned with in the new season. Riding, literally and figuratively, on a wave of newfound confidence, the Maurituan-born hoop bagged another quartet of winners at Sha Tin on Sunday. In a display that somewhat overshadowed his king-pin riding contemporaries, Teetan achieved the feat in four consecutive races, and is now just three victories off eclipsing his seasonal best. Putting his late season streak into context, the past six Hong Kong meetings have provided both Purton and Moreira with eleven victories each, in contrast with Teetan who has bagged twelve. According to scmp.com, Teetan enthused, “It’s hard to win one but when you ride four it’s pretty special… You get your confidence up and you start to feel better – once you have one you just want another one.”
