Williams Gives Harbour Views a Pass Mark
One of the country’s most potential-laden gallopers has earned a pass mark from his trainer Matthew Williams. Imported French gelding Harbour Views (Le Havre) kicked off his racing career by winning five consecutive races on the provincial circuit in Victoria. Armed with powerful finishing acceleration that immediately had touts picking him as a future black-type horse, he somewhat muddied the waters with three consecutive placings at Flemington, Sandown and Morphettville, the last in his penultimate run when beaten 2-lengths in the Gr3 Lee Stakes. Finally stepped up to a distance likely to reward him – trip – his half-sister Ickymasho won to 2800m – last Saturday Harbour Views showed that he can get definitely get the 2040m Cox Plate journey, easily accounting for a quality field. It gives connections the green light to start dreaming about October, with Williams telling racing.com, “He certainly seemed to corner well and it went to plan there…“It will be good to get a few more rating points with him now and start to plan a spring prep with him.” The Feehan Stakes is high on the agenda to get into the Cox Plate. Purchased for £68,000 by quality judge Charlie Gordon Watson at the 2017 Tattersalls October Yearling Book 2 Sale, Harbour Views is part owned and managed by OTI Racing.
