Heathcote Heading South with Rothfire

Thursday, 11th June 2020

With Queensland’s COVID-19 border restrictions expected to be well and truly over by the start of the new racing season, Brisbane trainer Rob Heathcote has put his money where his mouth is with boom juvenile Rothfire (Rothesay). Notwithstanding whether last Saturday’s effortles Gr1 JJ Atkins (1400m) winner ends up with an invitation for The Everest (1200m), a $2,500 late fee paid by the stable to line up in the Gr1 Golden Rose (1400m) will provide an added x-factor to Sydney’s key spring 3YO sprint. Winner of six of his seven starts, and runner-up as a $1.20 favourite in the Listed QTIS 2YO Jewel, Rothfire has been promoted to $8 second favourite for the Rosehill Group 1 on 26 September. As has become customary, it is expected he will have a look-see at the track two weeks earlier in the Gr2 Run To The Rose (1300m).
