Exciting Perth Juvenile Announces Himself
On Saturday in Perth, on the undercard to the Raconteur Stakes won by potential WA Horse of the Year Kay Cee, a 2YO on debut put his hand up to be a possible new star of racing in the west. According to rwwa.com.au, the Colin Webster-trained juvenile Reign of Fire made the perfect start to his racing career when shotting clear to score by a dazzling 4.25-lengths lengths. By ill-fated sire Trade Fair out of Hurricane Sky mare Fire Side, Reign of Fire cam in for heavy support following eye-catching trials and had the race shot to ribbons by the 200m mark. Webster already has the promising gelding earmarked for the WA Guineas. Continuing an amazing run of inexpensive, talented juveniles purchased at the Magic Millions Perth Sale, the $18,000 yearling purchase gave his trainer a glimpse of his ability early on with three top class warm ups against good competition. Likely to have another start before a short spell, one can only hope for WA racegoers that, as a gelding, he isn't already being pencilled in by Hong Kong and Singapore agents as a purchase proposition next year.
