Kenzai Warrior On Target for UK 2000 Guineas

Thursday, 4th June 2020

Trainer Roger Teal has Kenzai Warrior (Karakontie-Lemon Sakhee, by Lemon Drop Kid) on target for this Saturday's Gr1 2000 Guineas, reports theguardian.com. Two years ago, the trainer ran second in the Classic with 50-1 Tip Two Win (Dark Angel-Freddie's Girl, by More Than Ready), and Teal said, "There's probably not gonna be many hours slept. I guess the old nerves will kick in. Five days is a very long time for a racehorse, so fingers crossed we can get them all there." Kenzai Warrior is at 25-1 to take on the unbeaten Gr1 winner Pinatubo (Shamardal-Lava Flow, by Dalakhani). "Obviously we know what we're taking on but he's wintered well, he's strengthened up and working nicely," Teal said. "We're hopeful for a big run. He's come on a lot. Tip's been a good schoolmaster for Kenzai, bringing him along. It's been good for Tip as well, having something nice to work with. The pair of them have been helping each other." Tip Two Win will run at Haydock on Sunday. Kenzai Warrior is unbeaten from two starts including the Gr3 Newmarket Horris Hill Stakes, and his dam is out of a full sister to Gr1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe winner Sakhee (Bahri).
