Baffert Pleased By Security Progress
Former US east coast-trained colt Maximum Security, whose most recent start was when winning the US$20 million Saudi Cup, is now on the west coast where he is in training with champion trainer Bob Baffert, reports horseracingnation.com. With prizemoney from the world's richest race on hold pending an internal Saudi investigation that followed US indictments against former trainer Jason Servis, the now 4YO has a chance to show just how good he is without any tainted associations. Plagued by drama, which included becoming the first horse to ever lose the Kentucky Derby on protest, Maximum Security has pleased Baffert, who said, "It's not going to take long to get him back ready. We have to get him used to our schedule of works. He trained a different way [with Servis]. This horse has been just really easy. He's an intelligent horse who looks really healthy. He came in looking great." The next key start for the future stallion is the Gr1 Pacific Classic at Del Mar in August.
