Newnham Looking Beyond Hero Loss
The loss of any city-class horse is a knock to a stable, never mind a dual Gr1-winner like Shadow Hero who looks to still have enormous upside which will now be on show in Hong Kong. For trainer Mark Newnham, lamenting what might have been is a lost cause and the Sydney horseman is focussing his attention, instead, on what he considers a promising stable of young up-and-coming athletes. According to punters.com.au, with recent Group winner Splintex providing some relief after winning the Gr2 Arrowfield 3YO Stakes, Newnham enthused, "We've got a good group of young horses so something there will put its hand up. We're [also] getting quite a few yearlings through the stable at the moment. They're all having their two-week look around, they get into the routine and then go back out."
