Double Double-Winning Gr1 Sprinter Retired

Tuesday, 2nd June 2020

High-achieving US sprinter Imperial Hint has been retired from racing, reports racingnation.com. By Imperialism, a son of Canadian sire Langfhur who shuttled to Australia. A 7YO, Imperial Hint is a multiple Gr1-winning sprinter who twice placed in the Gr1 Breeders' Cup Sprint, however what will always stand him apart is his feat of claiming the Gr1 Alfred G Vanderbilt (6 furlongs) at Saratoga and Gr1 Vosburgh Stakes (6 furlongs) at Belmont as a 4YO, and then coming back as a 5YO to achieve the double again. In the latter season he also placed in Dubai's Gr1 Golden Shaheen (6 furlongs) at Meydan. Although connections are yet to finalise any stud deals, Imperial Hint's trainer Luis Carvajal Jnr told Daily Racing Form, "He's retiring sound but has a little bit of wear and tear. I think he might not be able to perform as well as last year and I don't want to run him if he's not going to be able to race at the same level."
