Waller Preparing Kinane for Caulfield Cup

Monday, 1st June 2020

Trainer Chris Waller is taking a patient approach to exciting 3YO gelding Kinane, a sophomore whose rise has been meteoric. A facile winner of the Gr3 Frank Packer Plate, Kinane’s connections knocked back a big seven figure offer on the basis that their horse has huge potential upside over the next few seasons. Waller sent him north, ostensibly for a two start campaign according to punters.com, however after suffering a 2.4-lengths defeat in Queensland’s Gunsynd Classic the decision has been made to tip him out ahead of what could a lucrative Spring Carnival. In a press release late on Friday, Waller stated, "He has been up for quite a long time, and come a long way in his first serious racing preparation. We are going to give him every opportunity to get to the Caulfield Cup, obviously qualify first and have him peaking for that race.” Waller enthused, "I am looking forward to the spring with him, he is a very promising horse with a lot of upside still to come."
