Waller Just Misses Out on A Perfect 10
Everyone has an off day. In the space of 15 minutes, Sydney trainer Chris Waller had the chance for a perfect 10, only to fall one short, with nine out of 10. First came the Gr3 Chairman's Handicap at Doomben (2000m). The first six home were all trained by Chris Waller, including in order: Le Juge, Savacool, Another Dollar, Alward, Black on Gold, and Shraaoh. A short while later, job done, Waller could concentrate on home affairs. In Rosehill's Listed Lord Mayor's Cup, also over 2000m, Waller runners filled the first three positions, with Wu Gok revelling in the conditions to beat Yulong Prince and the aplty named The Lord Mayor. After his onslaught, an understated Waller told AAP, "We got it right today. We are a bit top-heavy with these [staying] horses. But I'm reluctant to move them on when they are winning races and earning good prize money for their owners… A few put their hands up today and said they want to be here a bit longer."
