Osborne Bulls Farewelled by Cummings
Mecurial Godolphin sprinter Osborne Bulls has been retired from racing, reports racenet.com.au. One of the stable’s most talented racehorses performed at the most eleite level, including The Everest where he boasts a placing, yet the Gr2 winner never managed to crack a Gr1, filling the runner-up spot on 5 consecutive occasions. Unraced since a disappointing fifth in a small field at Randwick in the Gr2 Premier Stakes, the Street Cry gelding had a devastating finish. Head trainer James Cummings reflected, “I’d have loved to see him get a Gr1 win for his sake, but five second placings at that level show he deserved to be regarded among the elite sprinters of his generation. There’s no doubt he was a superior racehorse, his record shows that. But to be confident you were going to get the complete effort every time you put a saddle on his back is what will characterise him.” Osborne Bulls, a descendant of Ross Cribb’s champion mare La Caissiere, will live out the rest of his life as part of Godolphin’s Lifetime Care Program.
