Easter Grads Head Inglis Millennium Market

Thursday, 16th January 2020

Two Easter graduates dominate early betting for the $2m Inglis Millennium, announced Inglis in a press release. The Inglis Race Day will be run at Warwick Farm on February 8 and the early favourite at $6 is Peter and Paul Snowden’s 2YO filly and $500,000 Easter graduate Dame Giselle (I Am Invincible-Ballet Society, by Stravinsky), a dominant winner of the inaugural $1m Golden Gift at Rosehill in November. $400,000 Easter graduate Cellsabeel (Hinchinbrook-Our Egyptain Raine, by Desert Sun), who finished an unlucky fourth in the Golden Gift on debut for Ciaron Maher and David Eustace, is on the second line of betting at $7. $80,000 Classic graduate Encountabull (Bull Point-Countess Delago, by Encosta de Lago) and $575,000 Premier graduate Ideas Man (Brazen Beau-Innovation Girl, by Rubiton) - winner of the Inglis Banner in the spring - are next in line at $9 and $11 respectively. The Inglis race day will also feature the $1m Inglis Sprint for 3YOs over 1100m. The inaugural running of the Inglis Millennium last year developed into one of the form 2YO races of 2019 with winner and Classic Sale graduate Castelvecchio (Dundeel-St. Therese, by Dehere) going on to claim the Gr1 Champagne Stakes ten weeks later. “The inaugural Millennium Day was an overwhelming success both as an event for patrons but also as a strong racing fixture with winners on the day including the likes of Castelvecchio (see below), Fiesta, Samadoubt, Bivouac, Champagne Cuddles, Gem Song and Noble Boy among others,’’ Inglis’ General Manager of Bloodstock Sales and Marketing Sebastian Hutch said. “The 2020 Millennium is shaping as another fascinating contest. Some of the best 2YO performers we have seen this season are high in betting, but we have also seen a number of promising candidates for the race emerge at the trials in recent weeks who have the potential to make a big impression on the race.’’ The race day precedes the beginning of the 2020 Inglis Select Yearling Sales Series, which begins with the Classic Sale.
