Dalasan Might Dodge Australian Guineas

Wednesday, 15th January 2020

Connections of exceptional Adelaide colt Dalasan might decide to dodge a likely red hot Gr1 Australian Guineas that could see a rematch between Caulfield Guineas one-two Super Seth and Alligator Blood. According to AAP, Dalasan’s co-trainer Leon Macdonald and managing owner Harry Perks will need to decide on whether to tackle the Australian Guineas and then the All-Star Mile (both at Flemington), or head to Sydney for the Randwick Guineas and Doncaster Mile (both at Royal Randwick). Macdoanld conceded, "I think he would be suited by Sydney because he has a habit of laying in so racing in the opposite direction (clockwise) could help that. The Randwick Guineas is a week after the Australian Guineas in Melbourne so he can't do both, but the Randwick race might be a bit easier than the Australian Guineas with Alligator Blood and Super Seth going there.” No firm decision will be made until after Dalasan has his first start at Caulfield on 1 February.
