Parnham Weighs Up Platoon All Star Raid

Tuesday, 14th January 2020

Winning his local Gr1, the Kingston Town Classic (1800m) with superstar filly Kay Cee (Playing God), has fuelled ambition for Ascot trainer Neville Parnham, who has nominated 4YO gelding Platoon (Playing God-Oriel, by Oratorio) with confidence for the Gr1 All-Star Mile (1600m) at Flemington in March. Both horses are by Parnham's former Gr1 winning champion Playing God, and Parnham believes that Platoon could equal his sire in talent. "He's come on even better as a four-year-old," Parnham told racing.com. "He enjoys his racing and as he's gotten older, he's got better…He's good enough. He's a quality horse." Twice placed at Gr3 level, the galloper was impressive when beaten a length third in last month's Gr1 Railway Stakes (1600m), and the popular trainer said he hoped West Australian racing fans would support Platoon's attempt at the All Star Mile.
