Spendthrift Secures Santa Ana Lane Half-Sister

Friday, 10th January 2020

On Day 2 of the 2020 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, B. Wayne Hughes’ Spendthrift Australia purchased Lot 301, a southern hemisphere first crop filly by Tapit’s sensational Darley stallion Frosted. The ticket price was $650,000. While she hasn’t inherited her sire’s roan/grey colour, the Widden Stud-consigned filly looked an absolute picture and, race or not, will be a valuable addition to the Victorian farm’s broodmare band. From a top class North American family and a page awash in Group winners, the bay is a half-sister to 5-time Gr1 winner Santa Ana Lane, without doubt the dominant sprinter of last season.
