$1.5 million Written Tycoon-Karuta Queen MMGC Filly

Friday, 10th January 2020

A strikingly marked chestnut filly by Woodside Park Stud’s high profile stallion Written Tycoon (Iglesia-Party Miss, by Kenmare) was the subject of a drawn out, but engaging, ringside duel that saw her knocked down for $1.5 million to Sheamus Mills Bloodstock, to become the second highest priced yearling at the 2020 Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale thus far and the top-priced filly. Consigned by John Singleton’s Strawberry Hill Stud, the yearling has the real stamp of her Not A Single Doubt dam Karuta Queen, winner of the Magic Millions 2YO Classic. Also winner of the Gr3 Red Anchor Stakes, and boasting multiple Group placings that included runner-up in the Gr1 William Reid Stakes, Karuta Queen is dam of stakes-winner Eawase. Her Gr3 Blue Diamond Prelude (f)-winning dam Card Queen is a half-sister to Our Teneriffe, dam of Gr3 winner Vain Queen, also placed in the Gr1 William Reid Stakes.
