Vital Autumn Target For WA Sprinter

Wednesday, 8th January 2020

Gun Perth sprinter Vital Silver is being prepped for a start in the Gr1 William Reid Stakes (1200m) during March, reports thewest.com.au. The Moonee Valley feature has been identified by his trainers Dan and Ben Pearce as his major target following strong Gr1 form in Melbourne and Perth during the past 3 months. By Gr1-winning Clear Mountain Fairview stallion Wanted (Fastnet Rock), Vital Autumn boasts runner-up finishes in the Gr1 Manikato Stakes and Gr1 Winterbottom Stakes during late 2019, and Ben Pearce is hoping the William Reid might be easier to poach given that many of the best sprinters will be in Sydney at that time, noting, "What we do after that is still up in the air. Queensland is six weeks after it and they have three Gr1s. Adelaide probably works better timing wise, but The Goodwood is the only Gr1 there."
