A revealing statistic out of Singapore that belongs in Ripleys Believe It Or Not, racing.turfclub.com.sg has revealed that one of the country's most talented racehorses has had a new rider for every two starts in a 26-start career to date. in which he has run in feature races 21 times. By beautifully bred stallion Echoes of Heaven (Encosta de Lago-Shantha's Choice, by Canny Lad), leading Singapore racehorse Countofmontecristo's latest rider is apprentice Mohammad Nizar and becomes jockey number 14, with just Glen Boss (5 rides) Mod Zaki, Alan Munro and Daniel Moor occupying the saddle more than once. The latter, who rode the high profile Kranji-based horse to a recent third placing in the local Gr1 Singapore Gold Cup, has been given the chop in favour of the mature age 34-year-old apprentice who has ridden 8 winners so far in his career. Countofmontecristo is heading towards the internationally-sanctioned Gr3 Kranji Mile, via the Chairman's Trophy and a first up Class 1 run next week.
