2YO Race Features Training Partnerships

Training partnerships were first permitted in Australia in September 2008, and now there are twenty combinations registered in Victoria. Every runner in the ten horse 2YO race to open the card at Moonee Valley on Saturday is trained by a partnership team, reports racing.com. The Strath Haven Preston Sprint Plate over 1000m was quinellaed last year by dynamic duo Brooklyn Hustle (Starspangledbanner-Joint Aspiration, by Pivotal) and Yes Yes Yes (Rubick-Sin Sin Sin, by Fantastic Light), and there are some exciting types in this year's version. The training partnerships in the 2YO race are:

  • Ciaron Maher and Dave Eustace have winner Flinders River (Fighting Sun-The Copper Sun, by Bradbury's Luck), unraced The Big Easy (Written Tycoon-Sunday Chill, by Flying Spur) and Gr3 placed Muntaseera (I Am Invincible-Moosirra, by Redoute's Choice);
  • David and Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig train placed Stenmark (Medaglia o'Oro-Scandiva, by Fastnet Rock) and Gr3 placed $500,000 yearling Baaqyah (I Am Invincible-Exposed, by More Than Ready);
  • Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott train unraced Narvaez (Vancouver-Headway, by Charge Forward);
  • Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young prepare Gr3 placed Tagaloa (Lord Kanaloa-Vasilissa, by Heart's Cry);
  • Mick Price and Michael Kent Jr prepare unraced Our Playboy (Sebring-Mischief Night, by Shamardal);
  • Peter and Paul Snowden train unraced Soomayya (Pride of Dubai-Super Candy, by Fastnet Rock) and;
  • Michael, Wayne and John Hawkes prepare unraced Yulong Island (Exceed and Excel-Lindisfarne, by Viscount).
