Another O'Brien Champion to Join Training Ranks
In Ireland, two-time champion jockey Donnacha O’Brien has confirmed the rumours by announcing his retirement from riding on twitter. At just 21, the youngest of Aidan O’Brien’s children tweeted on Sunday; “After thinking about things for a while, I have decided to concentrate on training next year. Riding has been very good to me, and I owe everything to the people around me. I want to give special thanks to the Magnier, Smith, and Tabor families along with my own family for all their support. I look forward to training a small group of horses next year and will hopefully build from there.” Donnacha, rider of Saxon Warrior in the Gr1 English 2000 Guineas, already has a training facility set up in Longfield, County Tipperary, and will be aiming to replicate his irrefutable genius in the saddle on the ground.
