Not a Single Doubt Sibling Sires First Stakes Winner

Tuesday, 19th November 2019

Oakland Park Stud's exciting stallion Rogano (Redoute's Choice-Singles Bar, by Rory's Jester) sired his first stakes-winner on Saturday when the Fred Kersley-trained Taxagano (Rogano-Taxa, by Carry A Smile) was narrowly victorious in the Listed Ascot Gold Cup (1800m). The win was hard won; forced to race three-wide, the homebred 6YO even had Kersley on tenterhooks, "I wasn't confident in the run and I didn't even think he could win at the 50-metre mark," he admitted to Thoroughbred Breeders WA. "He's a genuine stayer and I thought it was a great performance today. We will keep him at 1800m next time and then perhaps put him over further ground." Rogano, a younger sibling of Arrowfield Stud champion Not A Single Doubt, is currently covering an initial book at Boallia Farm for a $4,400 service fee. He boasts an impressive winning strike-rate of 58%.
