Aethero Impressive In His Work

Friday, 8th November 2019

Karis Teetan will become the third jockey in as many starts to ride rising Hong Kong star thanks to his light weight, reports scmp.com. The Mauritian jockey grinned following his first piece of work on boom speedster Aethero (Sebring-Pinocchio, by Encosta de Lago) on Tuesday morning. Teetan will ride the John Moore-trained 3YO in Sunday week's Gr2 Jockey Club Sprint over 1200m in what shapes as one of the races of the season, when first pick Zac Purton couldn't make the 113 pound weight given to southern hemisphere 3YOs in the feature. "As soon as you jump on him, he gives you the feel of a good horse, he reminded me a bit of Able Friend so let's hope I can do well on him," Teetan said in a glowing endorsement. "It was nice to sit on him, it was my first time and he gave me a really good feel. John just wanted the horse to have a nice, easy trial so I just let him work through his gears to get him ready for next week." Track record-breaker Aethero has won four of his five starts and has earnings over HK$3 million. He was sold at the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale by Tyreel Stud for $575,000, and is a half-brother to Gr2 winner Classique Legend (Not a Single Doubt), while his dam is a full-sister to Gr1 winner Racing to Win.
