Mer De Glace Firms For Melbourne Cup

Monday, 4th November 2019

Following Saturday night’s barrier draw, Japan's Gr1 Caulfield Cup winner Mer De Glace has shortened as favourite from $7 to $6.50 at TAB to win Tuesday’s Melbourne Cup at Flemington. Last month’s Caulfield Cup winner has received 20 percent of support at TAB since the barrier draw concluded including bets of $4,500 and $4,000 at $6.50. Constantinople – an unlucky fourth in the Caulfield Cup won by Mer De Glace – has received 11 percent of money placed on the Melbourne Cup since the field was confirmed and is reasonably solid in the market at $8. Finche ($10) finished fifth in the Caulfield Cup and has received 10 percent of the support to win the Melbourne Cup since last night. The biggest overall bet on the Melbourne Cup is a $10,000 wager at $26 on Surprise Baby – now $15 – which was placed on October 4. Surprise Baby secured an automatic berth in the 2019 Melbourne Cup the next day by winning The Bart Cummings at Flemington. TAB odds from Sunday are below:

  • $6.50 Mer De Glace
  • $8 Constantinople
  • $10 Finche
  • $11 Vow And Declare
  • $13 Cross Counter
  • $15 Surprise Baby, Il Paradiso
  • $17 Mustajeer, Prince Of Arran, Raymond Tusk
  • $21 Master Of Reality & Downdraft
  • $26 and better the rest
