Gaby Sends Ominous Scarborough Warning

Monday, 30th September 2019

Friday night’s return of exciting 3YO filly Loving Gaby (I Am Invincible) was every bit as good as racing fans at Moonee Valley were hoping for. One of last season’s most talent-laden 2YOs, who mixed it almost exclusively in Gr1 company, the gangly former juvenile is starting to fill into her frame beautifully. Worse than midfield, and forced to sit wide the entire trip in the Gr3 Scarborough Stakes (1200m), Loving Gaby covered more ground than Burke and Wills to slingshot eight wide off The Valley’s camber where she joined luckless Exhilarates in a thrilling battle to the line. Solidly supported late in betting, Loving Gaby provided trainers Ciaron Maher and David Eustace with plenty of confidence as she heads towards the Gr1 Empire Rose Stakes (1600m) on Victoria Derby Day. Following her scintillating win, Maher said, "She was still a bit soft tonight but that's what good horses do… She has come to the races tonight against a pretty slick field. She's not fully fit yet and had to do it the tough way having no favours in the run.”
