Blue-Blood Debuts Oceans Apart

Friday, 27th September 2019

Two stunningly bred horses were due to make their respective debuts at low key meetings on either side of the Tasman Sea on Friday. In New Zealand, a $900,000 Not a Single Doubt half-sister to 8-time Gr1 winner Melody Belle was originally carded to start in a 1200m maiden at Gore, but she (Exaltation) has since been scratched. At Australia's Scone meeting, 4YO Melik (Redoute's Choice-Secluded, by Hussonet) will start in an 1100m maiden (Race 2) for which he is a short-priced favourite. A seven figure yearling purchase who has since been gelded, Paul Mesara-trained Melik is a full-brother to exciting young Arrowfield stallion Pariah, a dual Gr3 winner who finished runner-up in the Gr1 Blue Diamond Stakes.
