Aussie Prizemoney Big Attraction for Haggas
British trainer William Haggas is bringing two horses to Australia for the rich Spring races across Victoria and New South Wales, reports racing.com. Raheen House (Sea the Stars-Jumooh, by Monsun) is scheduled to arrive in Melbourne on Saturday ahead of a tilt at this year's $5 million Stella Artois Caulfield Cup (2400m) on October 19 and $8m Lexus Melbourne Cup (3200m) on November 5. Australian Bloodstock purchased a controlling share in Raheen House prior to his ninth in the Ebor Handicap. "I think he (Raheen House) is going to run in the Caulfield Cup if he gets in," Haggas told the UK Press Association on Monday. "If he doesn't get in he would probably go for the Geelong Cup. I think he needs to have a race first before the Melbourne Cup. He will run really well down there, and I don't think the two-mile (3200-metre) trip in the Melbourne Cup will be any problem." Raheen House has won 3 of his 18 starts, including the Gr3 Bahrain Trophy over 2600m. Haggas also has entered Skardu (Shamardal-Diala, by Iffraaj) in the $7.5m Golden Eagle (1500m) at Rosehill to be run on the Saturday before the Melbourne Cup. Skardu won his only start at 2, won first up at 3 in the Gr3 Craven Stakes, then has had four starts in group company for a third and three fourths.
