Debut For Son of Gr1 Jockey Simon Price
Will Price will have his debut ride on Sunday at Coleraine, reported racing.com. The son of Gr1 winning jockey Simon Price is a 19YO apprentice based at Ballarat. "I've been working closely with uncle Dan (O'Sullivan) and he's been really helpful in fast tracking my progression," Price said. "Ciaron Maher and Dave Eustace have been amazing, they've given me plenty of trials and provided me with great feedback to help me improve as a jockey." Prior to the shift to Victoria, Price was in South Australia. "Ryan Balfour has always been a huge help and I owe him a lot for all of the support he's given me through my journey so far," he said. "When I was in South Australia, he'd let me ride plenty of work, he always provided me with feedback and he always supported me." With plenty of family and friends heading out to Coleraine for the day, Price is looking forward to his debut. "I've gone through the right processes, I've worked hard and I'm ready to keep improving and learning," he said. "I'm confident in the way I'm able to read a race and I've worked really hard to put my runner in the right sport during trials. A big focus of mine has been to ensure I ride my mount out strongly all the way to the line and I'm hopeful that'll be noticeable from day one." Price will ride Blunakka (Helmet-Hughes My Daddy, by Henny Hughes) in Race 3, and Say Good Night (Red Arrow-White Diamonds, by Jugah) in Race 5 on Sunday with both horses trained by Dan O'Sullivan.
