At Caulfield in Melbourne, former Vinery Stud and then Bowness Stud shuttler Myboycharlie (Danetime-Dulceata, by Rousillon) added a Gr1 triumph when 5YO gelding Begood Toya Mother (Myboycharlie-Lady Of Helena, by Kaapstad) made the most of his light weight to score a dominant 1.3-length victory for trainer Daniel Bowman in the $500,000 Gr1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m). Although Begood Toya Mother was off and gone after cruising past leader Iconoclasm, runner-up 4YO gelding Age Of Chivalry (He’s Remarkable-Onyx, by Kaapstad) tried to make a race of it ahead of the chasing pack that included 6YO gelding Widgee Turf (Turffontein-Greyhound, by Kala Dancer). The Caulfield feature was identified at the beginning of the year by his trainer, and the drums had been beating for a long time that the Group 1 feature would be Begood Toya Mother’s seasonal magnum opus. The popular victory by the $28,000 Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale graduate improved his record to 8 wins (including the Listed Regal Roller Stakes) and a placing from 13 starts for $597,040 in earnings.
