Sydney Raid Underway For Danzdanzdance

Thursday, 19th September 2019

$5,000 NZB bargain-buy Danzdanzdance will begin another raid on Sydney on Saturday when she lines-up in the Gr1 Colgate Optic White Stakes (1600m) at Randwick. A poor, but apt, metaphor given the heavy rain that’s fallen across Sydney this week, the Chris Gibbs and Michelle Bradley-trained mare has been thrown into the deep end where she will meet a stellar cast for her third trip across the Tasman Sea. Her best result to date was behind Avilius in the Gr1 Ranvet Stakes (2000m) at Rosehill in March, and she is set to meet the gelding once again this weekend. She will also be mixing company with the 2019 Australian Derby winner Angel of Truth, accomplished Gr1 miler Happy Clapper, and the very in-form duo, Samadoubt and Dreamforce. At the bottom of the weights is fellow New Zealand-bred Gr1 star Verry Elleegant who is sure to find the mile and tougher Randwick circuit far more to her liking than her recent pipe opener where she was run off her feet. While Gibbs has a lot of respect for Saturday’s competition, he is focused on his mare and said she travelled over well earlier this week, telling NZ Racing Desk, “Our foreman, Glen Perry, is over there with her and he has sent back good reports on how she has settled in and how she has worked. He said she is hitting out lovely. They always take a few days to get into their feed, but she is doing well.”
