Profit Aimed at Spring Champion Stakes
If talented 3YO gelding Profit (Dundeel-Opportunity, by Redoute's Choice) can maintain his unbeaten record at Eagle Farm on Saturday, he'll be sent south to Sydney for the Gr1 Spring Champion Stakes at Randwick on October 12, reports racingqueensland.com.au. Co-trainer Chris Anderson said, "It was a huge win at Eagle Farm when he sat three deep all the way after drawing wide. This is much harder as he's stepping up in distance and has 59kgs. It only gets tougher from here but if he gets the job done, he'll go down to Sydney for the Spring Champion Stakes." The trip would be a one off mission for Profit. "We've got a few options with him," Anderson said. "He'll definitely spell after his next run whether it's in Sydney or here as four runs in his first preparation will be enough. The Queensland Derby looks an ideal race if he shows he can stay but he's going to need to win more prizemoney. There's also the Magic Millions Guineas in the summer although they might be a bit too sharp for him over 1400 metres." Profit is unbeaten in two starts, over 1200m and 1400m and was sold to DGR Thoroughbreds and Chris Anderson Racing at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale in 2018 by Arrowfield Stud for $280,000.
