Promising Weekend For Pinecliff Racing Reps

Monday, 16th September 2019

Jonathan Munz, whose Pinecliff Racing has a production line of high quality racing prospects, has had a weekend of mixed, albeit promising, fortunes. On Saturday at Flemington, exciting 3YO colt Super Seth (Dundeel-Salutations, by Redoute's Choice) was far from disgraced when beaten less than 2-lengths in the Gr2 Danehill Stakes (1200m) as he wends his way towards possible starts over further in the Gr1 Golden Rose (1400m) and Gr1 Caulfield Guineas (1600m). Meanwhile, on Sunday, triple Gr1 winner Shoals' 3YO full-brother Groundswell (Fastnet Rock-The Broken Shore, by Hussonet) scored at the second time of asking with a soft win as favourite in Geelong's opener over 1218m. Later on the card, promising last start-winning 3YO filly Southbank (Fastnet Rock-Rezoned, by Zabeel) did well to finish just over a length behind Godolphin's stakes-class hot favourite Hilo over 1318m.
