Arcadia A True Queen In Waiting
Saturday's effortless first outing in Sydney, where she cruised to success in the Gr2 Theo Marks (1300m), has done little to dispel the notion that in 4YO mare Arcadia Queen (Pierro-Arcadia, by Redoute's Choice), Chris Waller has a new monarch in-waiting. What it has done is vindicate owner-breeder Bob Peters' decision to send Arcadia Queen to the East Coast, and also ensure that this year's The Everest looks a veritable crapshoot. Since Saturday's cameo performance by the Pierro mare, who was just 0.04sec off the track's distance record, The Everest market has no less than a half dozen hopes priced between $6.00 to $8.00 – Arcadia Queen included. Whilst not suggesting she can't win The Everest (1200m), if anything the Golden Eagle (1500m) could be hers for the taking. She shares favouritism with confirmed fellow The Everest runner Classique Legend at around $4.50, with both substantially shorter than the balance of probables that are all $8.00 or better.
