McDonald Picks Up Plum Queen Ride
Kiwi jockey James McDonald, the rider many believe could become the best in Australia, has snatched an out-of-the-blue opportunity aboard The Everest hopeful Arcadia Queen. According to thewest.com.au, Kerrin McEvoy, who has already committed to riding two-time incumbent The Everest winner Redzel over Classique Legend, was booked for Arcadia Queen’s Spring resumption and first ride for trainer Chris Waller in Saturday’s Gr2 The Marks (1200m), however that is no longer the case. Owner Bob Peters advised, “Chris has decided on a riding change which will see James McDonald aboard Arcadia Queen for the first time. We agreed on the switch to James because he’s more likely to be available for the Everest mount on her.” There is a huge amount of anticipation surrounding Arcadia Queen who announced herself as one of the best horses in the country with a dazzling win in the Gr1 Kingston Town Classic (1800m) in Perth late last year.
