Singapore Triple Crown Loses Exciting Zoustar Son
A minor setback has forced Top Knight (Zoustar) out of this year's Singapore Triple Crown series, reports turfclub.com.sg. All appeared to be on track for the rising star's tilt at the Singapore Triple Crown when his race return produced a strong win a fortnight ago to provide him with a seventh victory from 10 outings. Unfortunately for connections, the Singapore Guineas winner, who was due to take his place in the prestigious (local Gr1) Raffles Cup has suffered a setback. "We weren't entirely happy with one of his front legs. It came up after his last race," reveled Clements. "There was a small amount of inflammation and heat to the right leg. He's a very sound horse, and he wasn't lame, but we still decided to get it scanned. Unfortunately, the scans showed some disruption of fibre within the suspensory ligament. Without getting too technical, it's a minor sprain that will require a six-week break." Given Top Knight's potential and young age connections decided not to tempt fate by pushing on with the odds-on favourite for Singapore's Champion 3YO title of 2019. Clements hopes to have another crack at next year's Triple Crown.
