Hong Kong New Home for Pure Legend
Owner Boniface Ho, whose exciting Sydney galloper Classique Legend is set to contest The Everest, has another promising young horse about to embark on a Hong Kong career after winning his maiden at Sandown on Wednesday. Another with a Legend moniker, Pure Legend was saddled by trainer John Sadler in the day's opening event over 1400m where he was backed into favourite after filling the placings in his past two starts. By Written Tycoon out of the Encosta de Lago mare Spendid Thing, Pure Legend jumped well from his good barrier, and looked home and hosed until 100m from the line when Relucent and Warning flashed home only to be denied. With Ho holding a vacant slot for a horse in Hong Kong, Pure Legend's qualification provides him with the chance to send him north. Sadler told AAP that he may have erred by running the gelding over 1400m, and should have known better as he believes 1200m is Pure Legend's optimum trip.
